When is a Christmas Carol not a Christmas Carol?

Surprisingly enough, the answer is ‘when it is sung in Church’. Many people have strong views about Christmas and Carols without having much clue about the origins of either. Christmas IS all about partying and consumerism and has precious little to do with the birth of any child.
