Tudor Antifeminism

One of the great ironies of Tudor History is that it was a period dominated by women such as Elizabeth I, but that at the same time it was a very seriously antifeminist century: most people took it as axiomatic that no women could rule - but plenty did – and successfully – and not just in England!
