English is Best! A light-hearted look at the English Language

Beginning from the absurd proposition that English is the best language in the world, this talk explores the growth and the superb qualities of English and its many varieties. While there can be no ‘correct’ English as such, there is much to be said for sticking to some clear rules, especially in writing. Some rules matter more than others, though much is a matter of taste. Yet, there is much amusement to be had from some of the hideous manglings of some semi-skilled practitioners.
