Auschwitz and the Holocaust
Not for the faint-hearted. Auschwitz was the most notorious centre of a web of POW, extermination and slave labour camps established by the Nazis during World War II. But there was not just one camp at Auschwitz – there were three, and as many as 40 sub-camps under the authority of the Auschwitz Kommandant Rudolf Hoess. What were all these camps for? And what did they do? What do they tell us about Nazi ideas for the rule of Europe following their victory? How did the Nazis find justification for their obvious monstrosities? And why have we failed to learn the basic lessons from all of this?
